Ctrl-Platform was built to make driving a Tesla Model 3 and Y more enjoyable and more controlled. Reach for a knob. Feel the click. Eyes on the road. That has always been the mission.
Now neuroscientists, road safety researchers, and European regulators have all independently arrived at the same conclusion.
What the research says
Norwegian neuroscience research published on forskning.no found that the human brain cannot safely divide attention between driving and touchscreen interaction. Physical controls allow drivers to act by muscle memory — no visual confirmation needed.
A study by VTI, Sweden's National Road and Transport Research Institute, found that physical buttons result in significantly shorter eyes-off-road time and better lane control compared to touchscreen interaction.
What Euro NCAP announced for 2026
Euro NCAP's revised 2026 testing protocol now requires physical, low-distraction controls for cars to earn a 5-star safety rating. Cars that rely solely on touchscreens for essential functions may lose safety points.
Ctrl-Platform gives Tesla Model 3 and Y drivers physical access to over 30 functions — temperature, volume, wipers, seat heaters, dog mode, and more — without touching the screen.
Ctrl-Stripe: safety through light
Ctrl-Stripe adds a further dimension. Its visual alert system delivers important driving information through LED lighting in your peripheral vision. Reaching you through ambient light rather than a screen notification. A more natural, less distracting way to stay aware.
More control. Safer. More fun.
The research confirms what drivers who have used Ctrl-Bar 1 since February 2023 — across more than 20 countries — have told us: physical controls feel right. Confident. Intuitive. And they make every journey in your Tesla more enjoyable.
